National Student Survey (NSS)

The National Student Survey (NSS) is an annual independent survey of graduating students, which asks students to rate and comment upon their undergraduate experience as it nears completion.

The University of Chichester takes feedback from its students very seriously and works hard to maintain the high quality of its courses. Over the last three years, we have been overwhelmed by the very positive rating that our graduating students have given to their experience at the University through the NSS and our own internal surveys.

We certainly appreciate the care taken by our students in completing the survey, in identifying our successes and areas for improvement.

We are working with the Students' Union to make this a real opportunity for dialogue between the University and its students.

The results of the NSS have once again proved that the University of Chichester is one of the best in the sector for student satisfaction.

Overall satisfaction is 87 per cent, three per cent above the national average, and we are ranked inside the top 40 of all higher education providers in the country by the Times Higher Education Supplement.

The University is justifiably proud to have a reputation for excellent teaching that is intellectually stimulating and which takes place in a community of learning. For this reason we are delighted to be ranked in the top 10 per cent of the sector for 'The Teaching on my Course' and 'Learning Community'.

Across the University there were some truly excellent results. History and Counselling are top in the country for Overall Satisfaction, with Social Work & Early Childhood ranked 3rd and Sport & Exercise Psychology and Sports Therapy scoring 100 per cent.

The University of Chichester believes that high-quality teaching, which is informed by research, is essential for a strong university sector where the value and impact of the investment made by students is clear. We take feedback from students seriously and believe it is an opportunity to ensure that we maintain the high quality of our courses and the services that contribute to the student experience.
