The Programme focuses on the development of University-level academic language and study skills for those planning to undertake degree programmes delivered in English.

Please note these courses are only for those aged 18 years or older.

10 Week Programme 5 Week Programme 
About the course This 10-week programme is designed to raise students' IELTS score by 1.0. This 5-week programme is designed to raise students' IELTS score 0.5.
Entry Requirements Minimum entry requirement

IELTS
4.5 in all four components (reading, writing, speaking and listening) or equivalent.

For degree courses requiring a 5.5 overall
Minimum requirement 4.5

For degree courses requiring a 6.0 overall
Minimum requirement 5.0

For degree courses requiring a 6.5 overall
Minimum requirement 5.5

How to apply
  • First apply for your undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme.
  • Wait until you receive an offer from us indicating you will need a higher English language test (e.g. IELTS) score or that you will need to take a Pre-Sessional course.
  • When you receive this, fill in the online form to apply for the Pre-Sessional programme (please specify 5-week or 10-week).
Accommodation You will be living in our Stockbridge Student Village in Chichester. For further information please visit our pre-sessional accommodation page.
Pre-enrolment information We will send you a welcome letter with all the necessary information in advance of the programme start date. You are also welcome to contact international@chi.ac.uk if you have any questions.

*This course will run in both on campus and online versions if there are sufficient students. If there are insufficient numbers it will run as an online version only. If you wish to study the five-week programme on campus please enquire at the time of application.
