About

William was born in Penzance and was educated at Blundells School Tiverton. After graduating from Birmingham University, William studied singing and piano in Manchester at The Royal Northern College Of Music, and, finally at the National Opera Studio in London. Early in his career he performed in opera, concert and oratorio, throughout Europe and the USA.

He also toured with the famous Monteverdi Choir. His professional debut was with Glyndebourne Opera, where he later played Jacquino in Fidelio in their touring production.

Prestigious work as a classical singer also includes associations with The Royal Opera, La Scala Milan, Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, The Lincoln Centre New York, and The South Bank in London.

Later in his career he has performed extensively as an actor and singer in West End Musicals and Repertory Theatre nationwide. Credits include Jesus Christ Superstar [Jesus], A Man For All Seasons [King Henry], Chess [original West End cast], Bernadette (Henrie in original West End cast), Pirates of Penzance [Frederic], Piaf, Les Miserables [Royal Variety Show], and roles in Fidelio, Ulysses, Orfeo, Carmen, The Consul, The Mikado, Just So, Snow White, Dick Whittington, and many others.

William has appeared on TV, and made various recordings on BBC Radio. Also he has experience working in Theatre Production, and has produced many youth theatre productions in Brighton with his Stage Schools ‘The Theatre Workshop’ (www.thetheatreworkshop.com) and ‘Performerzone’ (www.performerzone.co.uk) .

William is also an established singing tutor and repertoire coach with many pupils in West End shows. At various times in his career he has taught singing at many of the top London Drama and Musical Theatre Academies (including Mountview, Arts Ed, Laine’s, Central and GSA). At present he is a lecturer in singing at Chichester University, teaching 1:1 singing lessons and Vocal Masterclasses. He now lives in Hove.
